The chewy dried squid combined with a spicy and sweet seasoning makes it incredibly tasty. It's super easy to make at home, so give it a try! 🍽️✨
🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2)
- 100g dried squid (Jinmi-chae)
- 1/2 onion (sliced)
- 1 stalk green onion (sliced diagonally)
- 1 green chili (optional, if you like extra heat)
For the Marinade:
- 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
- 1 tbsp gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tbsp sugar
- 1 tsp minced garlic
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil
- 2 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- Toasted sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
🍳 Instructions
1️⃣ Rehydrate the Dried Squid
- Rinse the dried squid under cold water and soak it in warm water for about 10 minutes to soften.
- Once the squid is rehydrated, drain it well and cut it into bite-sized pieces.
2️⃣ Make the Marinade
- In a bowl, combine gochujang, gochugaru, soy sauce, sugar, and minced garlic.
- Add 2 tablespoons of water and mix everything well. If the marinade is too thick, add a little more water to adjust the consistency.
3️⃣ Stir-fry the Ingredients
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the onion and green onion and sauté until the onions become translucent.
- Add the rehydrated dried squid to the pan and stir-fry for a few minutes until it’s heated through.
- Pour the marinade over the squid and stir to coat evenly. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes, allowing the squid to absorb the flavors of the marinade.
4️⃣ Finish and Serve
- Drizzle 1 teaspoon of sesame oil over the stir-fry for a rich, nutty flavor.
- Garnish with toasted sesame seeds for a little extra crunch and aroma. Serve hot and enjoy!
🏆 Tips for Perfect Spicy Dried Squid Stir-fry
✔ Don’t soak the squid for too long. About 10 minutes is enough to rehydrate it without losing its texture.
✔ Add more chili if you prefer a spicier dish. You can also add a green chili for extra heat.
✔ Sesame oil adds a nice finish. Add it at the end for the best aroma and flavor.
