by Dreamyyy 2025. 3. 4.

Hello, food lovers! 😊 Today, I’m sharing a Korean Yangnyeom Chicken recipe that you can easily make at home. This dish features crispy, double-fried chicken coated in a deliciously sweet and spicy sauce. It’s just as good as your favorite Korean fried chicken spot—maybe even better! Let’s get cooking! 🍽️✨

🛒 Ingredients (Serves 2–3)

✔ For the Chicken

  • 500g chicken (thighs, wings, or drumettes)
  • 1 cup milk (optional, for tenderizing)
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • A pinch of black pepper
  • 1 cup frying flour (or all-purpose flour)
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 egg
  • Cooking oil (for frying)

✔ Yangnyeom Sauce

  • 1 tbsp gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp corn syrup (or honey)
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tsp butter (for extra flavor)
  • 3 tbsp water

🍳 How to Make It

1️⃣ Prep & Fry the Chicken

  1. If using, soak the chicken in milk for 20–30 minutes, then rinse and pat dry. (This helps remove any gamey smell!)
  2. Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  3. Mix the frying flour and cornstarch, then coat the chicken evenly.
  4. Dip the chicken in the beaten egg, then coat it with flour again for extra crispiness.
  5. Heat oil to 170°C (338°F) and deep-fry the chicken until golden brown.
  6. Let the chicken rest for 3–4 minutes, then fry again for an extra crispy texture!

2️⃣ Make the Yangnyeom Sauce

  1. Melt butter in a pan over low heat and add minced garlic. Sauté lightly.
  2. Add gochujang, ketchup, soy sauce, corn syrup, sugar, and water.
  3. Simmer over medium heat, stirring continuously until the sauce thickens.

3️⃣ Coat the Chicken

  1. Place the fried chicken in a large bowl and pour the sauce over it.
  2. Toss well to coat each piece evenly.
  3. Garnish with sesame seeds, and it’s ready to serve!

🏆 Tips for the Crispiest, Tastiest Yangnyeom Chicken!

Double-fry for extra crunch! Let the chicken rest between frying for the best texture.
Don’t overcook the sauce! If reduced too much, it can become too thick and sticky.
Keep the batter light! Too much coating can make the chicken heavy instead of crispy.

Enjoy your homemade Korean Yangnyeom Chicken and bring the taste of Korea right to your kitchen! 🍗💕
